This was the first piece I ever delivered to a large-ish live audience, so it has a pretty special place in my heart. Mind you, that place also has some pretty heavy connections to sweating, shaking, and an urge to vomit, because I get stage fright and the first couple of times up there were sort of like experiencing heavy g-forces. But, you know, you take the good with the bad. :) All I know is there is absolutely nothing like the thrill of getting your first laugh. I mean, I guess there's like drugs and stuff, but those are dangerous. Don't do those. Just be funny.
Also, it would've been kind of nice if it hadn't been videotaped. Thanks, facebook.

FIRST AND FOREMOST:

I just realized I have not written a poem in just over a year.

A YYYYYYEEEEEAAAAARRRRRR!

That is a long time. That is a longer time than anyone should go without writing a poem. Even people with absolutely no talent (moi) should write a poem or create some other physical manifestation of artistic processes at least once a month. For psychological purposes, if nothing else. Seriously. It's important.
Maybe doodles in class notes count, but I don't know. I'm not a scientist.

SECOND:

For the guys out there, I'm going to give you a little romantic advice. Listen closely. Are you ready? Do you need a minute?
...
...
...
...Now? Okay:

Leaving gross, sexually explicit messages about what you would do to her, and how her boyfriend is inadequate, in a lisping gangster voice on a girl's voicemail will NOT get her to do you. I know this might be a little counter-intuitive for those of you who are, um...
...I don't actually know who would get this wrong. Gorillas maybe? They seem like pretty straightforward guys, though. Maybe a gorilla with half of its brain removed.
The smart half.
Do not be a hemispherectomized gorilla. F'serious.

THIRD:

I've been thumbing through (not literally, though that would be cool) the deviations I missed while I was off doing nothing in particular and found some amazing things. Honestly not trying to promote myself, but if you have time you should look through some of the things I've favorited recently. There are some amazing people in the world.

That is all for now, folksies. I'm going to try and do something artistic once a month from now on, which means I'd better start racking my brains to pop something out by the end of October. (Maybe literally? Do they make brain racks? That'd be pretty cool, though, really, brains can't detect pain. What a stupid idea for torture. Strike one, idioms.)

Love for now, hopes for later,
Roxana

I am all about appreciating other peoples' talent. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by the extent to which a person can express what they see; what they find beautiful, or heartbreaking. Really, it's through these expressions that the definition of beauty itself is molded, and looking at a single striking piece is sometimes, for me, like watching beauty as it is redefined.
Or something.
I also like to ramble, and generally have no idea what I'm talking about. :)

p.s. Sorry if I'm a total favewhore.
